How to keep active during the lockdown?

Many people find it easy to stay inactive during the COVID-19 lockdown. With the overly stressed “stay at home” recommendations, you may find it difficult to stay motivated to keep active. On the other hand, if you get bored at home, you may eat more food irrespective of hunger messages from your brain. This may result in gaining weight and reduce your fitness during the lockdown period.

So how can we stay active with the current restrictions?

You don’t need any gym devices to meet your daily requirement of physical activity. You can choose to use your 1-hour exercise permit going for a run or a bike ride.

Remember that simply going for a walk is usually not enough to burn your extra calories and does not help with staying fit. Brisk walking to the point that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat may count.

You may also choose to add home-based physical activities, such as exercising with a skipping rope.

The benefits of staying active is countless. Apart from physical benefits, it also helps you with your mental health during the COVID time
